Innovations and advances that continue to transform the sector
Electric mobility continues to advance with significant initiatives and developments in Spain and Europe. Here are some of the most outstanding novelties:
Catalonia boosts the electric car industry
The Generalitat of Catalonia has launched an ambitious plan to revitalise its automotive sector and lead the transition to the electric vehicle in Spain. This program plans to multiply by five the network of charging points in the next five years, going from 9,000 to 45,000 stations. In addition, it seeks to electrify 90% of the fleet of vehicles of Catalan administration and offer incentives to individuals and companies for the acquisition of electric vehicles. The plan will mobilize a public-private investment of 1.4 billion euros.
ANFAC and Iberdrola join forces to promote electric mobility
The Spanish Association of Automobile and Truck Manufacturers (ANFAC) and the energy company Iberdrola have established a collaboration to accelerate the adoption of the electric car in Spain. This alliance seeks to develop more accessible and efficient charging infrastructures, as well as promote policies that encourage the purchase of electric vehicles. Both entities consider this joint effort essential to meet the emission reduction targets established by the European Union for 2025.
Madrid incentiva el retiro de vehículos sin etiqueta ambiental
The Madrid City Council has launched the “Plan Move Madrid” with the aim of improving mobility and reducing emissions in the region. Among the outstanding measures, owners of vehicles without an environmental label from the DGT are offered an aid of 1,000 euros or a free transport subscription for the C2 zone for three years, in exchange for handing over their car for the flattening. In addition, subsidies are contemplated for the acquisition of sustainable vehicles, including up to 2,000 euros for the purchase of vehicles with ECO or zero emissions label. Aid is also offered for the acquisition of electric bicycles, tricycles, assisted hand bicycles and mopeds. These initiatives will be in force until 2026 within Fenercom’s Moves Plan III.
Baleària presenta el primer corredor verde eléctrico entre España y Marruecos
The Baleària shipping company has announced the creation of the first green corridor between Spain and Morocco, which will be operated by two 100% electric “fast ferries”. This connection will unite the cities of Tarifa and Tangier, allowing an emissions-free crossing. The catamarans, which will be built in the Armon Shipyards in Gijón, will have 11,500kWh batteries, enough to cover 18 kilometres of travel. The complete recharge of the batteries will be carried out in each port during a one-hour stopover, using autonomous robotic arms. This pioneering project combines technological advances with an environmental focus, strengthening the sustainable connection between Europe and Africa.
These initiatives reflect the commitment of different regions and companies to promote electric and sustainable mobility, adapting to current and future transport needs.
